“I’m working with respite care because I really have a passion for working with individuals with special needs, and I [normally] only get to do that at Sproutlings,” Smith said. While she is used to working with children with special needs at Sproutlings Pediatric Daycare, working with Rush, who is a 17-year-old boy on the autism spectrum, has been a relatively new experience for Smith and she was nervous at first. Smith quickly adapted and knew she should not have doubted her qualifications to work with Rush.
