A new Associate Provost for Faculty and Academic Excellence was announced today.

In an email, Acting Provost Cheryl Stevens announced that Michelle Trawick will be the new associate provost for faculty and academic excellence effective July 1. Trawick is an economics professor and serves as an associate dean in the Gordon Ford College of Business.

The position has a combination of responsibilities from support positions in the Provost’s Office previously held by Richard Miller, who retired in 2018; Sylvia Gaiko, who is taking a dean position at Indiana University Pennsylvania in the fall; and Doug McElroy, who was the associate vice president, academic enrichment and effectiveness, Stevens said.

Stevens also thanked Jim Berger, professor in Educational Administration, Leadership, and Research, for serving as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges liaison through the recent transitional period in the email.

Berger will begin as the director for the Center of Teaching and Learning at Georgia College and State University on July 1.
