Special Assistant to the Provost Merrall Price has been named interim dean of Potter College of Arts and Letters, the Provost’s Office confirmed Monday.

Former Dean of Potter College Larry Snyder resigned on Tuesday, effective Wednesday. Former chancellor of WKU’s Glasgow campus Sally Ray was initially confirmed as the interim dean through an email sent by Provost Terry Ballman, but later declined the position.

In an email to Potter College faculty and staff, Ballman said Price will start as interim dean May 1.

“I remain appreciative to Dr. Larry Snyder for his decades of dedication and service to Potter College,” Ballman wrote. “As Dr. Price begins her role as interim dean, your department chairs and I are confident in her ability to work well with Potter College faculty, staff and students. Even during a time of transition, I am certain that moving forward together we will ensure that the historic prominence of PCAL endures.”

Price is special assistant to the provost and a professor of English, according to her information page. She also serves as a liaison for academic policies and curriculum to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
