Outfielder Luke Brown has transferred to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois, after playing one season with WKU. Brown also attended Bowling Green High School.

Brown started in 39 games as a freshman with a .369 batting average, ranking 5th in Conference USA, 48th in the country and 3rd nationally among freshmen. Brown was ranked 3rd on WKU’s team for 18 multi-hit games and 2nd on the team with 11 stolen bases.

“Luke Brown will not be with us in the spring,” WKU Athletics said in a statement. “We wish him the best on and off the field.”

Brown joins the list of key losses from the 2018 Hilltopper squad that includes infielder Steven Krafte, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, outfielder Jacob Rhinesmith, drafted by the Washington Nationals and pitcher Ryan Thurston, who signed with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

The Hilltoppers will begin their season on Feb. 15 at Nick Denes Field against Northern Kentucky University.
