July 30, 2018
A Lexington Realtor was appointed to WKU’s Board of Regents on Friday by Gov. Matt Bevin.
Linda Gamblin Ball is a 1978 WKU alumna who graduated with a degree in business administration and is a Realtor at Ball Homes realty, according to her LinkedIn profile. She was appointed to a six-year term.
Ball becomes one of two female regents on the board, along with Julie Harris Hinson of Louisville. Ball replaces John Ridley, who was appointed to WKU’s Board of Regents by then-Gov. Steve Beshear in 2012.
Ball is a member of WKU’s Alumni Association. She said that education is extremely important to her and she wants to help students have the same opportunities to attend college as she did.
“I’m very honored and humbled to serve and do anything I can to help with the university’s advancement,” Ball said.
Ball was one of six new appointments Bevin made Friday. Bevin also named new members to the boards at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University, Morehead State University, Murray State University and Eastern Kentucky University, according to the Lane Report.
Bevin also extended the term of George Nichols III on the board on July 13. Nichols, of Potomac, Maryland, is the executive vice president of governmental affairs for New York Life Insurance Co. and a former Kentucky insurance commissioner. His term was extended until June 30, 2023, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
