Corinne Murphy, current interim vice provost of West Chester University, has been appointed by Provost David Lee as the next dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.

“Corinne is an excellent choice for the CEBS Deanship, and she’s very excited about joining us,” Lee said in the email to all faculty and staff that announced Murphy’s appointment. “She will provide outstanding leadership for our programs in the college.”

Murphy received a Ph.D. in special education and applied behavior analysis from Ohio State University. She has been a faculty member in the special education department at West Chester University since 2006 and has served as department chair since 2014, according to a news release by WKU.

“We are excited to welcome Professor Murphy to the WKU family,” President Timothy Caboni said in WKU’s news release on Murphy’s appointment. “Preparing educators is the foundation on which WKU was built, and her experience will serve us well as we hone our programming to serve the needs of our communities across our Commonwealth.”

Murphy will assume the dean position in CEBS on Aug. 1. She will replace current dean Sam Evans, who will retire on June 30.

“I am delighted to join Hilltopper nation as the next Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences,” Murphy said in the WKU news release. “Our degrees are key to empowering WKU students to lead and serve our global society. I look forward to working with faculty, staff and students on continuing to build life-changing opportunities within the college.”
