David Lee, current provost and vice president for academic affairs, assumed the role during the fall 2015 semester following Gordon Emslie.

Lee originally intended to serve as provost for two years, but when former President Gary Ransdell announced his retirement in January 2016, Lee said he would continue as provost to assist the incoming president

Once his tenure as provost ends, Lee will step into the role as WKU’s first university historian
