Local standouts made it official Wednesday during the new early winter signing period.

Cumberland Valley safety Charlie Katshir and Camp Hill tight end Zack Kuntz are going to Penn State.

The pair, lifelong friends, are local highlights from a Nittany Lions recruiting class that 247Sports and ESPN ranked in the top five this year.

Katshir, a three-star recruit, is expected to add weight and transition to linebacker.

Kuntz, meanwhile, is just weeks away from starting his early enrollment in Happy Valley. The 6-foot-7 four-star recruit once again led the Lions with 40 receptions for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns, one of the more dangerous offensive weapons over the past four years in the Mid-Penn.

Katshir finished with 37 receptions for 715 yards and seven TDs, served as a Wildcat quarterback and kicked. He also recorded 50 tackles and four interceptions on defense, showing off impressive range all over the defense with time spent at deep safety, in-the-box safety and cornerback.

They’ll join one of the nation’s top recruits overall, Harrisburg defensive end Micah Parsons, another early enrollee. Parsons is expected to play linebacker for the Nittany Lions, potentially pairing two former rivals (with Katshir) on the same defense in the coming years.

PSU had 21 recruits sign their national letters of intent Wednesday.
