With finals week right around the corner many students are reconsidering their life choices and wondering why they didn’t opt for living as a hermit under a rock after all. However, like any hero embarking upon an impossible quest, there are tools to help you succeed.

Free Breakfast

Food is very important to concentration skills and mental health. Start finals week right with free breakfast! On Monday, Dec. 4 the Fresh Food Company in the Downing Student Union will be offering breakfast for free from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Extended Library Hours

Have a question about a research paper? Need a last minute source? Need a quiet place to study? Need some space from your hysterical roommate? Come to the library! The Helms-Craven Library is having extended hours for the week of finals. Starting on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m., the library will be open Monday, Dec. 4 through Thursday, Dec. 7 from 7:45 a.m. until 2 a.m. Don’t wait until the last minute though – on Friday, Dec. 8 the library will close at 4:30 p.m.

Puppy Cuddles

Potter College of Arts and Letters is once again hosting a paw patrol during finals week. Come and say hello to the puppies at Academic Commons all day on Monday, Dec. 4, and on Tuesday Dec. 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The puppies will also be coming to visit the lobby of Cherry Hall on Monday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. and on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m.

Lots of Coffee

The WKU Restaurant Group is sponsoring two study jams and offering free complimentary coffee and cookies. Stop in to Java City on Sunday, Dec. 3, Monday, Dec. 4, Wednesday, Dec. 6 or Thursday, Dec. 7 from 9 p.m. until midnight, or check out the DSU Study Room from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the same days. Free coffee will also be available all day in the Academic Commons located in FAC 166.

Destress with Coloring

Coloring to relieve stress is more popular than ever. Coloring sheets will be available all week in the Academic Commons in FAC 166. You can also pick up a copy of the College Heights Herald coloring book!

Plenty of Sleep

Studies have shown that a good night’s sleep is more effective to doing well on an exam than cramming at the last minute. So put down those study notes, close your laptop, play some soothing music and arrive on test day well-rested. It does you no good to know the answer if you’re too frazzled to read the question!
