Conference USA announced on Thursday that WKU volleyball’s Alyssa Cavanaugh and Jessica Lucas have repeated as C-USA Player and Setter of the Year, respectively.

Cavanaugh has now been tabbed Player of the Year back-to-back seasons while Lucas has three-peated as the Setter of the Year.

With their awards, Lucas is the first player to win three Setter of the Year awards in 23 years of C-USA awards, while Cavanaugh is the fifth player in conference history to win multiple Player of the Year awards.

Additionally, Lucas and Ashley Potts are the only players in program history to three-peat conference superlative awards. Potts won three straight Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year Awards from 2011-2013.

Both Cavanaugh and Lucas have been named First-Team All-Conference selections all four years of their WKU careers.

Cavanaugh leads all outside hitters in the nation with a .381 hitting percentage and has racked up 408 kills over the 2017 season, good for 4.04 kills per set. She also earned three C-USA Offensive Player of the Week laurels on the season and was selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.

Lucas helped to facilitate the second-best offense in the nation by racking up 1,110 assists (10.99 assists per set) and hitting at a .366 hitting percentage on the season. The senior was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team and was named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award.

The Lady Toppers will open C-USA Tournament play against Charlotte on Friday at noon in Diddle Arena.
