Junior Lane Hedrick, studied and interned in Bosnia over the summer. Hedrick interned at the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, BIRN, and engaged in independent research investigating war-crimes. “It was very different than America,” said Hedrick, who is originally from Morehead, Kentucky. “I came back with a greater sense of how tolerance works.” Hedrick noticed what she described as “eerily similar political sentiments” between the after effects of the war in Bosnia and America’s current political atmosphere under the Tump Administration.
