Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, Dr. Jerry Daday, speaks at the Bosnia 101 event at the DSU Auditorium on Tuesday, Aug. 29, as a part of The International Year of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Daday says that he first started researching Bosnia in college during the Bosnian war and genocide that happened. Then, when he came to WKU in 2004, he had several Bosnian students in class and started asking him about their stories. “I looked at it as my responsibility to incorporate Bosnian content into my class.” Today, Daday estimates five to six thousand Bosnian Americans live in the Bowling Green area.
