Dr. Cheryl Hopson, an African American Studies assistant professor reads three of her poems during “the Women’s March on Washington Call for Action celebration of Women’s Day” on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at the Fountain Square Park. Hopson’s poems were written in honor and celebration of her grandmother and great aunt who passed away. Hopson said she has always wanted to advocate for women’s rights. “All my life I’ve been aware of the need for gender equality and so everything I do is to that end,” Hopson said.
