Presidential search committee to meet Friday
September 28, 2016
The Presidential Search Committee will discuss potential candidates in a meeting Friday, Sept. 30. At this time, it is not decided whether the search is going to be closed or not.
Representatives from Isaacson, Miller, the executive search firm being used to search for the next WKU president, will be present to provide an overview of the search activities.
The meeting will be open to the public at the start, but the committee will go into closed session to discuss specific candidates.
“According to our consultants, a large number of candidates demand confidentiality and if they’re not given that, they’ll drop out,” Phillip Bale, regent and chair of the search committee, said.
“I don’t want to speak for the Board as a whole,” he said, on whether it will decide to have a closed search. Bale thinks the decision will depend on the candidates.
“No one can say if it will be a closed search at this point,” Bale said.
At the meeting, students, faculty members and other attendees can voice their opinions on the committee going into a closed session and the possibility of having a closed search for the next university president.
