Grammy-Award winning hip hop artist, Lecrae will be coming to the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center this weekend on April 24 as a part of his Higher Learning Tour, joined by hip hop artist Swoope.

Lecrae said in a phone interview with the Herald that the set on Sunday will be energetic and alive.

“It will flabbergast anybody who’s in that crowd with the music, energy and truth,” he said.

Stanford freshman Bailey Lawson has seen two of Lecrae’s live shows, and she said the crowd gets really involved.

“He talks about a lot of things that everyone has dealt with at some point in their life,” Lawson said. “Even if you’re not a Christian, you can still enjoy his music and relate to it.”

Lecrae said he once heard someone say rap and Christianity equals crap.

“They’re wrong,” he said. “What we do is authentic. I’m plugged into the highest power, and that means the music is going to be filled with truth.”

He said he is able to speak to people in all walks of life because he has friends in all walks of life, which he uses to relate to his audience.

“It was awesome to see him live,” Lawson said. “The crowd gets really involved, and it’s a lot of fun to be a part of.”

Lecrae will perform tomorrow Sunday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center, SKyPAC.
