The WKU softball team claimed their first conference title this weekend in the Conference USA Tournament in Miami. The win gives the Lady Tops an automatic bid into the NCAA regional softball tournament.
The Lady Tops sealed the deal with a win against no. 2 seeded Florida Atlantic with a score of 3-1 on Saturday.
This was the Lady Tops first year in C-USA and is the first championship title won since the softball program started in 2000.
The Lady Tops faced off against no. 8 seeded Charlotte on Friday. Senior pitcher Miranda Kramer threw a perfect game, helping secure a 1-0 win over Charlotte.
They advanced to play UAB on Friday, coming off with a 3-1 win that pushed them into the title game late Saturday morning. Kramer struck out 15 batters during the game.
