Gooch leads Lady Toppers past Austin Peay, 91-68

Senior forward Chastity Gooch’s 24 first-half points highlighted WKU’s 91-68 win over Austin Peay (2-8) in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Gooch would finish the night with a career-high 32 points off 14-26 from the field, knocking down 4 three-pointers on the contest.

Redshirt sophomore Kendall Noble led the team in rebounds with 10, as the Lady Toppers out-rebounded Austin Peay 52-21 on the night.

Senior guard/forward Alexis Govan provided balance to the Lady Topper attack, dishing out five assists and six rebounds to compliment 17 points on the night. With 12 more points this season, Govan will tie for 20th place in program history for career scoring.

Micah Jones quietly was knocking on the door of a triple-double on the evening, notching 9 points off three three-pointers with eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Lady Topper offense as a whole shot 51 percent from the field off of 73 attempted field goals.

WKU has now scored 90+ points in four straight games for the first time since 1998. The Lady Toppers have won 19 of their past 22 contests.

The Lady Toppers (9-2) will be back in action on Dec. 21 in Diddle Arena against Ball State.
