UTEP currently leads WKU 20-14 at halftime.

WKU’s offense has been held to negative rushing yards and 4-of-9 on third down. Senior quarterback Brandon Doughty is 13-of-20 for 186 yards and one touchdown. Leon Allen leads in receiving with six catches for 75 yards while Joel German has two grabs for 64 yards and a score.

Jameill Showers completed a 69-yard pass to Ian Hamilton to place UTEP in the redzone. Three plays later, Jay Mattox booted a 28-yard field goal to give the Miners an early lead.

Facing a third-and-17, Doughty’s screen completion to Leon Allen went for 21 yards to midfield. Doughty then hit Joel German down the left sideline for a 50-yard touchdown pass with 8:58 left in the first quarter.

Autrey Golden went untouched on the ensuing kickoff for a 92-yard touchdown return to retake the lead for UTEP.

UTEP added onto its lead with a one-yard score from Josh Bell to make it 17-7 UTEP with 2:35 left in the first quarter.

Mattox made his second field goal of the game with a 29-yarder to extend UTEP’s lead to 20-7 in the second quarter.

Doughty brought the offense to life with six straight completions for 74 yards to set up a Leon Allen one-yard score with 3:11 to play in the first half.
