Tops hold a 17-14 halftime lead at Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. – WKU, on the brink of its first-ever victory over a Big Ten opponent, leads Illinois 17-14 at halftime.

The Hilltoppers lead the Fighting Illini in total yardage, 249-218, including a 101-30 advantage in rushing yards.

Junior running back Leon Allen has 19 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown and four receptions for 33 yards. Allen scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter.

Allen carried 28 times for 93 yards and a touchdown against Bowling Green State.

Redshirt senior quarterback Brandon Doughty has completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 148 yards and a touchdown. Doughty found redshirt junior Tyler Higbee for a 16-yard score in the second quarter.

Sophomore quarterback Wes Lunt leads Illinois with 188 yards and a touchdown in the first half having completed 13 of his 24 pass attempts.
