Lady Toppers fall to Arkansas State in OT thriller

WKU led by four points with 44 seconds remaining in regulation, but Arkansas State rallied to force overtime and came away with a 78-75 over the Lady Toppers Wednesday night in Jonesboro, Ark.

The Lady Toppers (14-7, 6-4 Sun Belt Conference) have now lost four straight contests to the Red Wolves.

The loss also drops WKU to 14-3 in bounce back games during Coach Michelle Clark-Heard’s tenure, which includes a 5-1 record this season.

Redshirt freshman guard Kendall Noble led the way for the Lady Toppers with 27 points. Junior forward Chastity Gooch added 15 points and eight rebounds. Freshman center Bria Gaines and sophomore guard Micah Jones chipped in 10 points apiece.

WKU will continue its two-game road trip in Little Rock, Ark. on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. CT against Arkansas-Little Rock. The Lady Toppers downed UALR 65-39 on Jan. 15 in Diddle Arena.
