WKU Volleyball seniors Ashley Potts and Paige Wessel were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region team as Honorable Mentions, the AVCA announced Monday

It is the first time that either player has been recognized by the AVCA. It also marks the fifth straight year that two WKU Lady Toppers have been named to the All-Region team in the same season.

The Sun Belt Conference recognized Potts a few weeks ago by naming her the Defensive Player of the Year, the third time she received the award in her career. She also played in every single game since coming to WKU, 141 in all.

Also this year Potts rewrote the record books as she became the schools all-time leading digs leader, setting the bar at 1,879 for her career.

Wessel was the leader offensively this year for WKU as she recorded a .458 hitting percentage on the season, which was good enough for fourth in the nation. She was the only outside hitter among the top 25 student-athletes for hitting percentage.

The percentage was also the best in school history. She was named All-Conference First Team twice in her career. She ended the season with 323 kills and for her career she hit .367, second on the schools all-time list.
