The WKU Lady Toppers improved to 7-3 on the year and 6-3 all-time against Belmont with a 66-46 win in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Friday.

Junior forward Chastity Gooch led the way for WKU with 21 points to go along with seven rebounds, four blocks and four steals. Junior guard Alexis Govan tallied 20 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocks in 28 minutes. Gooch, Govan and senior guard Bianca McGee scored 55 of the 66 Lady Topper points.

The Lady Toppers, who belted out a 33-6 run in the second half, forced 21 Belmont turnovers and shot 49 percent from the field and held the Lady Bruins to just 33 percent from the floor.

WKU moves on to play Georgetown in the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. CT. The matchup will mark the first meeting between the two schools.
