One of WKU’s top defensive forces could be back on the field Saturday against Army.

Senior linebacker Andrew Jackson, who missed the game against Georgia State this weekend due to a violation of team rules, is taking steps to return to the team, coach Bobby Petrino said Monday.

Jackson’s suspension is not drug or alcohol related, according to sources close to the program.

Petrino said the linebacker has a good chance to play Saturday.

“He’s met every requirement so far, so hopefully we have a good week and he’ll be ready to go,” the coach said.

Sophomore linebacker Daqual Randall started in place of Jackson against Georgia State. He finished with seven tackles.

Jackson currently ranks second on the team in total tackles, behind fellow senior linebacker Xavius Boyd, with 59 on the year.
