WKU seniors Melanie Stutsman and Ashley Potts were honored by the Sun Belt Conference as they were named the Setter of the Week and Defensively Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.

For Stutsman it is her fourth consecutive week and fifth week overall as the Sun Belt Setter of the Week. The setter helped the Lady Toppers to a perfect 3-0 record last week as the team did not drop a single set. During the three games, Stutsman had 117 assists totaling for an average of 13 assists per set.

Over those three games, WKU as a team had a hitting percentage of .371. To go along with the 117 assists, Stutsman also posted 14 kills, 23 digs, and three blocks, all with a hitting percentage of .239.

The Defensive Player of the Week award is the second of the season for Potts and the eighth for her career. Last week she average 5.78 digs per set as WKU’s opponents combined for a hitting percentage of .167. Overall, the Lady Toppers averaged 15.44 digs per set. Against UT-Arlington, Potts recorded 20 digs, her fourth 20-dig performance of the season.

Currently Potts leads the conference in digs per set in overall and conference play.

Stutsman, Potts, and the rest of the Lady Toppers will be back in action Friday night against ULM at 7 p.m. in Diddle Arena for their annual “Dig Pink” game.
