WKU is trailing Navy 7-3 at halftime at Smith Stadium.

WKU opened the game on offense for the fifth time in as many games, but the result was much different.

The Toppers went three-and-out for the first time this season on the opening drive.

Navy made the triple-option look easy with a 10 play, 67 yard drive capped by a Keenan Reynolds one-yard run giving the Midshipmen the early 7-0 lead.

Junior quarterback Brandon Doughty started for the Toppers and was nearly perfect through much of the first half. A 22-yard run and three completions from Doughty helped set up a 30 yard field goal by sophomore kicker Garrett Schwettman.

Doughty was a perfect 8-for-8 for 49 yards in the game until an interception by Parrish Gaines midway through the second quarter.

Schwettman missed his first field goal of the year in the final second of the first half on a 37-yard attempt.

Through one half, Doughty is 14-for-18 for 108 yards and one interception. Senior running back Antonio Andrews has 11 carries for 74 yards. Redshirt junior Joel German leads in receiving with four catches for 47 yards.

The game will resume shortly.
