The Bowling Green Police Department has arrested Bradenton, Fla. freshman Dominique Wortham, 21, in the death of Larry Thomas.

Wortham was arrested with the assistance of the WKU Police Department in his Barnes-Campbell Hall room at 10:38 p.m. Thursday, according to Wortham’s police report.

Wortham confessed to BGPD that he shot Thomas, BGPD said in a news release. Police said Wortham’s confession came after “an extensive investigation.” BGPD said the shooting happened in the course of a robbery.

Wortham was taken into the Warren County Regional Jail at 10:56 p.m., Thursday. The online information system for the jail indicates he is being held on $1,000,000 bond for murder, as of 11:00 a.m. Friday.

Wortham was arraigned at 8 a.m. this morning, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.

Thomas was shot at the Greenhaven Apartments on 2001 Rock Creek Road in Bowling Green on Sept. 3.

Thomas was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

BGPD arrested a Rhodes-Harlin Hall resident assistant, Siara Thompson, on Sept. 4, after she was identified as a potential witness during the course of the homicide investigation of Thomas, according to court documents.

Detectives were able to establish Thompson was present in Thomas’s apartment with the two 17-year-old females hours before the shooting on Sept. 3. Thompson knowingly helped juveniles purchase half of a gram of marijuana for $10 there, the documents state.

Skipper said Wortham’s student status will remain unchanged until the conclusion of BGPD’s investigation.

Wortham will be in court on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 a.m.
