A new hotel is making its way to Bowling Green, adjacent to the Augenstein Alumni Center.

The hotel will be a Hyatt Place, owned by Dellisart Wellspring LLC, the owner and manager of the Staybridge Suites Bowling Green on Nashville Road and Campbell Lane on South Campus next to the Knicely Conference Center, according to a news release.

Construction of the four-story hotel will begin this fall. The hotel is schedule to open in the fall of 2014. Meridian Design Build, who built Staybridge Suites, was awarded the construction contract.

The hotel is a step forward in plans for what has been called the “Alumni Square,” meant to serve as a gateway connecting WKU’s campus with downtown Bowling Green.

“The addition of a Hyatt Place hotel next to the Augenstein Alumni Center is the cornerstone that will complete that gateway to downtown,” President Gary Ransdell said in the news release. “This is an exciting opportunity for our community and our campus, and we are pleased to welcome Hyatt Place to Bowling Green.”
