WKU running back Allen arrested for disorderly conduct
August 4, 2013
WKU sophomore running back Leon Allen was arrested Sunday morning on a second-degree charge of disorderly conduct, as originally reported by Chad Bishop of the Bowling Green Daily News.
Allen, a 6-foot, 235-pound running back from Bradenton, Fla., was booked at the Warren County Regional Jail at 2:35 a.m. Sunday morning. Allen was released at noon on $300 bond.
“We are aware of the situation and are gathering more information,” according to WKU director of athletics communications Kyle Neaves.
Allen was second on the team in rushing last season, with 56 carries for 317 yards and two touchdowns.
Allen’s arrest marks the fifth for the Topper football team this offseason. Former senior WKU basketball player Kene Anyigbo, who spent a few short days with the football team in the spring, was charged with marijuana possession in April and has since transferred from the university.
Senior fullback Kadeem Jones was arrested July 13 on a DUI charge, with a court date set for Monday.
Senior punter Hendrix Brakefield was arrested at 1:27 a.m. on May 23 on a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place. On June 29, sophomore kicker Mike Mugler was arrested on a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct and menacing.
WKU football officially begins its season with fall practice starting Monday from 5-7 p.m. The practice is open to the public.
