Defending national champion Louisville headlines WKU men’s basketball non-conference schedule

The 2013-14 WKU men’s basketball non-conference opponents feature nationally prominent teams according to a blog written by Chad Bishop of the Bowling Green Daily News.

Dates and times for every game has not be released yet.

The Hilltoppers will face their toughest test of the season against the defending national champion Louisville Cardinals this upcoming season. The Cardinals finished the 2012-13 campaign 35-5 and defeated WKU 78-55 last December in Nashville, Tenn.

Nov. 11, WKU will open the season by traveling to Wichita State as part of ESPN’s marathon of college basketball.

Another familiar opponent for the Hilltoppers to come in the upcoming season is Southern Mississippi. The Golden Eagles squeaked by WKU last season 67-64 in overtime in Hattisburg, Miss.

WKU will also have a rematch with Murray State, who defeated the Hilltoppers in 2012 75-70.

Ole Miss, Marshall, Samford, East Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Bowling Green, UNC Wilmington, and Brescia round out the remainder of the non-conference schedule for WKU.
