There will be a planned power outage this weekend on the north end of campus as a part of a high voltage project between WKU and BGMU.

Per a WKU email, Cherry Hall, Garrett Conference Center, and Potter Hall are undergoing electrical changes from a 5 kV power supply to a 15 kV voltage system.

This gives the buildings a new 12,470 volt distribution system as opposed to the former system giving only 4,160 volts.

Potter Hall and Garrett Conference Center will have the power shut off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and will stay down through the close of business on Monday, Aug. 5.

The power outage in Cherry Hall, however, will begin at 8:00 a.m. next Monday and run through the whole week until Sunday, Aug. 11.

Ben Johnson, assistant director of Planning, Design, and Construction said in the email it was not expected for the power outage to last longer than scheduled, but should circumstances arise, a notification will be sent beforehand.
