Top-seed WKU (40-14) ousted four-seed North Texas (28-23) in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Thursday at the Troy Softball Complex.

WKU used seven hits from six different Lady Toppers to lock up the 3-1 victory and advance one round closer to a Sun Belt championship.

Senior pitcher Mallorie Sulaski (12-7) started and played all seven innings allowing just two hits for the Lady Toppers.

Sophomore outfielder Shawna Sadler scored the first Lady Topper run in the top of the fifth off a hit from sophomore infielder Preslie Cruce.

Cruce went on to score off a UNT error to extend the WKU lead to 2-0.

Senior outfielder Katrina Metoyer added another run for the Lady Toppers off a home run in the following inning.

UNT added a run in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to make up the deficit.

The Lady Toppers are in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. against the winner of Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Lafayette.
