The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science found itself at the top of Newsweek’s America’s Best High School list for the second year in a row today. The ranking places the school above 2,000 other public high schools.

Gov. Steve Beshear came to an an event honoring Gatton’s number one ranking last year, where he voiced his continued support of the program which “challenged students”

“We’re intent on removing obstacles that are in their path, we want to make sure that they have a smooth go in life and so we sometimes, honestly, make things too easy,” Beshear said. “The work here shows what happens when you make things more difficult.”

The school has ranked in the top five for the last three years. The full list of schools can be found here.
