Board of Regents Notebook: approvals at the second quarterly meeting

The Board of Regents approved all the following items at their  second quarterly meeting on Friday, April 26.

• Approved an Advanced Worksite Health Promotion Graduate Certificate.

• Approved the appointment of Dr. Richard Bowker as emeritus professor.

• Approved changing the name of the Institute for Rural Health Development and Research to the Institute for Rural Health

• Approved changing the name of the Department of Communication Disorders to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

• Authorized the purchase of 1580 Normal St. for $240,000.

• Authorized the University to procure property at 1590 Normal St. for the future Honors College and International Building, including the use of eminent domain if necessary.

• Approval of personnel actions.

Both the minutes of the first quarterly meeting on January 25 and the Special Called Meeting on April 1 were taken off the table and placed for approval at a later meeting at the request of Regent John Ridley and Faculty Regent Patti Minter, respectively.
