The Toppers’ recent win streak came to a close at home Saturday against Arkansas State.

WKU (13-12, 7-7 Sun Belt Conference) fell behind early and never recovered as the Red Wolves rolled to a 67-49 win.

WKU seemed doomed from the start. ASU, the current Sun Belt West division leader, rushed out to a 22-9 lead 11 minutes into the game and never trailed.

The Toppers had trouble moving the ball in the loss. WKU recorded just six assists to 11 turnovers – it was the 14^th straight game WKU has turned the ball over 10 or more times.

The WKU offense ran through sophomore guard T.J. Price – he led the team in points (21), rebounds (seven) and assists (four).

Price had 10 points of the first 17 points the Toppers scored and was their most potent offensive threat from start to finish.

Senior center Teeng Akol was back in action against ASU. Akol, who missed Thursday’s game at North Texas due to a class attendance issue, had eight points and fiver rebounds in the loss.

Sophomore forward George Fant also contributed eight points and five rebounds.

The loss drops WKU back to .500 in the Sun Belt with six regular season games remaining. The Toppers will face Florida Atlantic Thursday and Florida International Saturday in one of their last remaining road trips this year.
