Birmingham, Ala., junior Kristen Guin is the creator of “Queerability.” Queerability is a blog she created to increase awareness of LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer) people with disabilities. Kristen started the blog a few weeks ago with the intention of “creating a community of people who are like-minded and who are supportive of each other in regards to whether it’s their sexuality, their gender identity or their disability.” Since its beginning, the blog has grown a lot. Kristen says that she has been thanked by many people for starting the blog and even asked to write for Advocate magazine, an LGBTQ magazine. “To find myself in a place where I’m becoming a voice for other LGBTQ disabled people is really just very fulfilling and rewarding for me,” she said.
