WKU’s perfect start to Sun Belt Conference play came to a close Sunday as the Lady Toppers fell 63-58 to Arkansas State.

The Lady Toppers shot just 41.9% from the field and turned the ball over 24 times in Jonesboro, Ark.

WKU (12-3, 5-1 SBC) had recently ripped off seven straight wins on the road and five straight in the Sun Belt.

The Lady Toppers were led by their double-double machine, sophomore forward Chastity Gooch, who picked up her thirteenth double-double of the year with a 16-point and 12-assist effort.

Sophomore guard Alexis Govan helped with a 14-point game as she battled through foul trouble and junior guard Chaney Means scored 10 points in just 16 minutes of action.

WKU will have a chance to rebound at home in Diddle Arena on Jan. 12 against Florida Atlantic.

WKU will host its next three games, all against Sun Belt competition, in Bowling Green.
