WKU (15-5, 8-3 Sun Belt Conference) suffered its third Sun Belt loss Sunday to Middle Tennessee State (15-5, 10-1 SBC) 79-57 after shooting just 33.3 percent from the field.

Sophomore forward Chastity Gooch earned her 17th double-double of the season with a 20 points, 14 rebound performance and sophomore guard Alexis Govan scored 26 points.

The rest of the team combined to shoot just 4-of-28 from the field for a total of 11 points.

The lack of role contribution hurt the Lady Toppers against an experienced Middle Tennessee State team that shot 48.3 percent from the field.

Lady Raiders’ guard Kortni Jones scored a career-high 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line.

The loss is the second straight away from home for the Lady Toppers, who lost to South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 23.

WKU will return to Diddle Arena on Jan. 30, when the Lady Toppers host Troy.
