Defensive ends coach and recruiting coordinator Kevin Peoples’ career at WKU is over just weeks after it began.

Peoples resigned from the WKU coaching staff Saturday, reportedly to take a position at Alabama-Birmingham as defensive line coach.

He was hired by WKU earlier this month as new coach Bobby Petrino put together an entirely new Topper coaching staff after the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Peoples had previously served as Director of High School Relations at Arkansas for two seasons under Petrino.

Peoples’ departure means WKU will yet again be in the market for an assistant coach. Petrino had filled all of the assistant positions on the staff earlier in January.

It also may have an effect on recruiting – WKU had lined up a full class of junior college transfers and high school recruits for next season in Peoples’ time.
