WKU’s season ended Friday night in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.

No. 1 seed North Texas defeated No. 4 seed Lady Toppers 1-0. WKU had beaten North Texas 2-0 less than two weeks ago.

North Texas’ goal came in the 22nd minute, when a ball chipped to the middle of the field was shot over the top of freshman goalkeeper Nikki Hall’s head.

After allowing 11 shots in the first half, the Lady Toppers did not allow any in the second half.

The game marked the end of five seniors’ WKU careers: Amanda Buechel, Christen Sims, Lauren Crowder, Ali Stahlke and Courtney Rymer.

Buechel and Rymer were named second team All-Conference and Stahlke was named Defensive Player of the Year at the conference award banquet earlier this week.

The Lady Toppers ended the season 7-2-3 in conference play and 12-5-3 overall.
