Eckhardt drops suit against WKU

October 26, 2012
A civil suit filed by Amy Eckhardt, former director of the Office for Scholar Development, has been settled.
On June 29, 2011, Eckhardt filed a civil complaint suing WKU for violating the Whistleblower Act, Open Records Act, invasion of privacy and libel. That suit was dropped by Eckhardt, and an agreement was signed yesterday.
During Fridayโs Board of Regents meeting, Deborah Wilkins, WKU general counsel, said Eckhardtโs lawyers contacted the university about three weeks ago to drop the charges.
โIโve never had that happen in my career here,โ Wilkins said.
Wilkins said the university did not offer any money to Eckhardt for a settlement.
โNormally these things happen when certain payments are involved,โ Wilkins said.
