Days after pulling in his first touchdown catch since 2010, senior tight end Jack Doyle now has another reason to celebrate.

Doyle was named to the midseason watch list for the John Mackey Award on Monday along with 25 other tight ends from across the NCAA.

The Mackey Award is given to the top tight end in the nation at the end of each season.

He is currently No. 2 for WKU this season in total receiving yards (242) and average yards per game (40.3), behind junior running back Antonio Andrews in both categories.

He has one touchdown reception on the year, coming last week against Troy. It was his first touchdown catch since Oct. 9, 2010, against Florida International.

Other notable names on the midseason list include Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert, Michigan State’s Dion Sims and Florida’s Jordan Reed.

The next cut for the Mackey Award watch list is on Nov. 12.
