Student Government Association’s fifth meeting of the year consisted of reading of bills, a new meeting location, a presidential appointment, and swearing in of new senators.

The resolution to approve fall campus clean-up date was put on hold because of a miscommunication with of the representative of the resolution and it was not sent to the Legislative Research Committee (LRC) meeting.

The resolution will remain as new business until a representative attends an LRC meeting.

Two bills were up for first read, funding for a pilot program for identification vouchers and funding for the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority.

Included in the identification vouchers bill, SGA will pay for $10 of a regular priced identification card. The identification voucher pilot program will partially cover the cost of 80 student identification cards.

The Sigma Gamma Rho sorority bill calls for SGA to fund $225 for the organization’s Hair Show Spectacular on Nov. 1.The money would help the production and necessary costs to have the hair show.

The next SGA meeting, Oct. 2, will be at South Campus room 303 at 5:15 p.m. SGA is inviting students from South Campus to speak about the issues and changes that are taking place there.

SGA President Cory Dodds’ said two senators resigned due to time commitment but student Shea Wyatt will fill in as a replacement.

The new senators were welcomed and sworn in.

The new freshmen senators are: Barrett Greenwell, Taylor Ruby,Cole McDowell and Paige Settles.

The senator from the Gatton Academy is Linda Cruz.

Graduate Students senators are Mark Reeves and Katie Martin.

SGA unanimously approved the transcript voucher program bill and also announced they will be having dinner with WKU President Gary Ransdell on Oct. 22. at 5 p.m.
