WKU junior Melanie Stutsman has been named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Volleyball Update (cvu.com) for her performance in this weekend’s Coke/Michigan Invitational and in last week’s game against Lipscomb.
Stutsman helped lead the Lady Toppers to a tournament sweep versus Duke, Michigan and Eastern Michigan. She had a season-high 54 assists, six kills, two digs and two blocks against then-No. 22 Michigan.
In the tournament finale versus Eastern Michigan, she put up 45 assists, eight kills and five digs.
Stutsman is the third Lady Topper ever to receive the weekly honor. Teammate Jordyn Skinner was awarded the same recognition in 2011.
Stutsman and the No. 24 Lady Toppers will begin Sun Belt Conference play at 7 p.m. Friday against Troy
