LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Questions remain after healthcare stands

In response to the article about the Affordable Care Act, I find it hard to believe that it actually benefits students. When looking at the portion that allows students to stay on their parents plan, I see it as a reason for students to become more dependent on their parents. When discussing the so-called “benefits” to students, people forget that the Supreme Court ruled the law Constitutional as a TAX! Also, those that are uninsured are that way because they cannot afford insurance. So if they cannot afford this “Affordable Care Act,” then how are they suppose to afford the penalties associated with it?

Finally, even though the law was declared Constitutional as a TAX, does the government have the right to tell you, the taxpayer, that you must buy insurance? That will be left up to the voters this November. Like Speaker Pelosi said in 2010, “we must pass the bill to find out what’s in it.” Two years since that statement, we are still trying to figure out what is in this 2,000 page law that has been ruled a TAX!
