WKU has gone with a familiar face as its new athletics director.

Todd Stewart, former senior associate AD, and interim AD since March 22, has been promoted to become the school’s permanent AD, WKU announced Wednesday afternoon.

Stewart will be introduced to the public and the media at a press conference at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Topper Club at Smith Stadium.

President Gary Ransdell will also be available for comment.

Stewart has been at WKU since 2008, when he was hired as the school’s associate AD for communications and media relations.

He was promoted to senior associate AD in 2010.

Before coming to WKU Stewart spent time in various public relations roles with the Sun Belt Conference (2005-2008), the NFL’s Cleveland Browns (1999-2005) and the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts (1991-1999).

Stewart is replacing Ross Bjork, who left WKU in March to take the vacant AD position at Mississippi.
