WKU’s game against non-conference foe Austin Peay, scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Nick Denes Field, has been canceled, WKU announced Wednesday morning.

An athletic department statement said the game had been canceled “due to field conditions and the threat of inclement weather in the Bowling Green area.”

The game will not be made up.

The Toppers played Lipscomb on Tuesday night, losing 7-6 in 11 innings.

WKU used five pitchers in the game, including sophomore right-hander Justin Hageman, the team’s usual Friday night starter.

Sophomore left-hander Austin Clay was slated to start Wednesday’s game.

The Toppers (17-24, 8-10 Sun Belt Conference) will be back in action at 6 p.m. Friday against league opponent Louisiana-Monroe (19-21, 7-11).
