A week after helping haul in a recruiting class that included seven Rivals.com three-star players, WKU defensive ends coach Raymond Woodie has been recognized by Scout/FoxSportsNet as 2012 Recruiter of the Year in the Sun Belt Conference.

Woodie, who coached at two high schools in Florida over the course of 13 years before coming to WKU in 2009, was listed as the main recruiter for seven of WKU’s 2012 recruiting class, including five three-star recruits.

His familiarity with recruiting in Florida help WKU bring in seven players from the state.

The WKU coaching staff brought in one of its smallest classes in recent seasons this year, signing just 13 recruits after losing 12 players to graduation this offseason.
