Sophomore right-hander Justin Hageman will not start WKU’s game against Toledo on Saturday as originally planned.

Head Coach Matt Myers slated freshman left-hander Ian Tompkins to start in Hageman’s place in the second game of the series.

Myers had labeled Hageman as the Toppers’ Saturday starter, but re-assigned him to the closer role for the weekend, according to WKU Media Relations.

The former Hopkinsville High School standout made three relief appearances in 2011.

Hageman went 8-5 last season with a 3.22 ERA. For his efforts he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.

WKU opens its three-game set against Toledo at 3 p.m. on Friday at Nick Denes Field.
