At the first Student Government Association meeting of the semester Tuesday night, which lasted roughly 10 minutes, the following was discussed:

  • SGA announced that the Rally for Higher Education is coming up in two weeks on Feb. 7. There is an RSVP on SGA’s website to attend the rally in Frankfort.
  • SGA’s Executive Vice President Kendrick Bryan said he would like to be involved in the upcoming federal elections in November by possibly sending students to the Democratic and Republican national conventions.
  • New applications for study abroad and scholar development are now on the SGA website.
  • President Billy Stephens said the Downing University Center steering committee will soon be meeting.
  • Another announcement made at the meeting was that, due to excessive absences last semester, the attendance policy will be more strictly enforced.
  • The director of public relations position is now vacant and SGA is looking for a replacement for the previous director, Jane Wood.
