Central running back Wales to decide between Louisville, WKU

Anthony “Ace” Wales committed to Louisville on Jan. 16, telling the Louisville Courier-Journal he wanted “to be the face of Louisville football.”

But it’s no longer so certain that the former Louisville Central High School standout will sign with the Cardinals during Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

Wales told the Herald Tuesday he’ll sign with either Louisville or WKU at 12:30 p.m. CT Wednesday in a ceremony at Central High School.

Wales, the No. 14 all-purpose back in the nation according to Rivals.com, said he’s “nervous, but excited” going into Wednesday.

“It’s been a long process, but I’m ready for it to be over,” he said.

Wales finished his senior season as the No. 3 all-time career rusher in the state of Kentucky.

He said he’s spending Tuesday night with family and friends while attending the Central vs. Louisville Ballard basketball game tonight before announcing his decision Wednesday.
